whats the current thinking/experiences with the various 3" exhaust systems? i remember lots of people not liking the abbott kit as it was a pain for emissions at mot time.

been looking at the maptun stuff. i'd like a 3" downpipe, then should i go for a 3" catback or stick closer to the 2.5" catback. not looking for crazy power in the future just a little tweak further down the line to get stg2. Nor do i want a LOUD Zorst, just something a bit shinier with an understated note to it.

3" Downpipe is a priority once you get past Stage 1 with a decent CAT, beyond that its more about the noise it makes rather than the performance. The Abbott system is very boomy when cruising, not particularly nice to be honest. Sounds good at idle though.

The 95 Maptun /jetex system fits well, is good quality and gives a nice note
Thats a tick in all of the boxes from me ! 8)

I want one of these for my 9000 but for some reason there another £100 more than the 95 system :? Why ???? :loco:

Abbott ............pants in my opinion . too much droning , cats that don't work or rattle and not great quality .

Mixed reports from Powerflow stuff all depends on which branch you go to and whether the welder there can actually weld !!

trust me i;d do my research before i went,,,i know of at least 2 branches (non close to hear tho :( ) that are extremely good,,,and in comparison to factory made bolt on pipes i think they're great value,,,and you can have a good old whine at them if you dont like it ;)

The 9000 is a very niche market. Tooling up to make parts costs the same but if you only make 1/2 as many bits you have to charge more to re-coup your investment. Griffin Performance is still looking at a budget 9000 Downpipe but the price difference between that and our Stainless one isnt that much. We could cut corners to make it cheaper but that would involve us removing the 2 features that are unique to our design.

The 9-5 is also a much simpler piece of pipe to make compared to that awkward elbow in the 9000.

I've recently had an Abbott backbox put on (by Abbotts) which gives a nice 'burble' at idle and a deeper throaty noise when picking up speed.

Claimed +6 bhp but I'm not sure.

Nice twin tailpipe which looks the business.

£300 supplied and fitted incl VAT.

Still - at least I'm advertising the diminutive size of my member

Not referring to the frontpipe here Paul just talking about the cat-back system
Surely theres as much time , effort and materials involved in producing a 9K cat-back as there is a 95 ?? so why do they charge the extra £100 ?

They still have to build a jig and build prototype units to test so the same theory applies. There is also the lack of competition which means suppliers can bump the prices up and profiteer.
