OK, and FTR, here's mine of the show stopper, again. Didn't take any others.

Oh, and there's Gracie in the background, with Prarie, who has a doppleganger, having another good look around her.

many many thanks to all who voted for my old shed, respect to you all & I hope I answered all your questions, I couldnt get over just how many people were intrested in it, made me feel very good indeed so thank you all very much.

You deserved the top spot mate because a lot of people recognise the amount of effort you put into preparing that car... and like others with not a lot of budget its your enthusiasm that drives you to spend what you can spare every month on your passion, along of course with a very nice partner who obviously loves you loads and knows you can be be trusted enough not to swap her for anything ... even those big calipers you were looking longingly at on that very nice 9-5 in the row in front!!

I also spent much of the day with Les (Inspector Gadget), hope you got home ok matey.

Went home via Malvern, only to find the Triumph club had a meet on at the Three Counties Showground, my friend lives a mile up the road and the surrounding villages were buzzing with TR's of every shape and size and just to put right Zaphods post about my ani's mileage it had clocked up 35,855 miles on arrival home, I must try not to put many more on it this year :D

I did lose him for a while, he said something about going to look at the new 9-5 & off he went.

Image

The list price for that was £31,800 plus the HUD and metalic paint option, so I doubt i'm getting one soon unless I sell this in exchange, anyone fancy a swap?

Image

True to his word there he was, but I didnt think the new 9-5 was his cup of tea.
So I moved in closer to make sure he was ok sitting in one of these new cars.

Aha, he isnt intrested in the heads up display or the sat nav at all, just look at him!

Hes in there letting some nice lady twiddle his knob the dirty little devil!

the sales lady and I had a lot in common :D , she used to run a flying club at Kemble before joining Platignum SAAB and we talked mostly about flying stuff to be honest but it was nice to see what you get for your £33K I guess

Fair doos, hes a cracking fella & great company too, cheers Les.

thank you and likewise to you two...

Also talked for ages with Chris (Transit80), good to catch up with you again mate.
I also met David (-=FUBES=-) & had a long chat with him & Demos (also from Neo Bros) who was very intrested in my old bus & is a lovely lad too & full of passion for Saabs,

I was sorely tempted to break my rules on how much I can spend every month on my Saabs but magnificently I held back and only bought 8 spark plugs... but will definately be on to them for my needs in the future, eg new exhaust system, tyres, filters, shiney bits, silicon pipes and brake kits so nice guys and very generous too (I did notice several instances of very kind gestures) and I was impressed, looking forward to Mallory now ..cant wait

I was so busy yacking on at everyone
(Strange I never noticed that  )

So from me a massive thumbs up to all involved.

Me too, my only comment would be that I did miss the bacon and egg sarnies I promised myself...... was so looking forward to that... lets hope for next years meet I dont put that many miles on the car and can gorge myself on many bacon butties

Sorry Ian, I havent got anymore of that one, its a real corker too so if anyone else has pics please whack em up here.
I think thats why Admin asked me to start a new thread in the coffee bar to keep all the pics of the weekend in one place
so get posting lads, I know I wasnt the only one pointing my camera at anything that was made of Swedish metal & moved!

Blue 96 belongs to Noel Hughes from North Wales. Noel was the previous owner (before Dad) of "my" 96, which was a part-ex deal on our old ex-Mike Wood rally car (ORC 413N) that Noel bought from Dad about 18 years ago. That car has since been retired after close to 15 years of campaigning in the Welsh forests and road rallies. Noel then built up the blue one to replace it, but hasn't competed in it for a couple of years.

Message from the Club - a BIG Thank You to everyone who came out to support us this year, members and non-members alike. I think I managed to speak to most people who wanted to chat, and I probably got a few quid out of you for raffle tickets... Big thanks to the North West SOC branch for putting on the driving test, it was a good bit of fun, and very competitive for the few of us who entered - those who didn't missed out! Thanks to Platinum Saab for bringing their display of new models, and to all of the traders who came alone and donated prizes for the raffle. Fiona won the Neo Bros voucher so I will be figuring out how to use that shortly...thanks chaps

Well done to Tony Grestock for finally completing the restoration of his stunning GT750 - it's been that long I'd forgotten he had it  and what a stunner! It was less than 12 months ago that Tony won the best car award at the IntSaab meet in Holland with his then-just-finished, ultra-rare and fabulously stunning 1950 92B...this guy is incredible! So after 30 years of Saabing and never before seeing a GT750, I've seen two in less than a fortnight

However the biggest thanks goes to Robin Morley and the SW SOC team who hosted the event for us - well done guys!

Will try to get some pics up later in the week, of the awards etc, not going to happen today as we had a nightmare trip back from Farnborough last night - A1 closed at Blyth due to a lorry fire, we were stationary for over 2 hours and I ended up kipping in the car for a bit...knackered today!

Its a B reg 99GL.
I really wish I'd taken some more shots of this one, the front is fitted with a pair of square driving lamps & it looks fantastic.
Wheels.......Dunno Nick, they dont have Saab centers & I cant work out what the badges say.
Its a hell of a nice car though.

No, not mine.

It has blacked out rear lights and front indicator/side lights using normal black paint. Gloss black curly aeros but with what looks to be mirror chrome adhesive film applied to the 'indentations'. All of the engine bay hoses have been painted 'samco blue'. The bumpers and side skirts have been painted gloss black and chrome strips have been applied to the bumpers and to the aero panels. He seems to be part-way through converting to leather with just the rear seats to go. Other than that it seems pretty standard.

Hi Ian, I have just joined this forum for the first time today, and I must say it is very good! also, I am the proud owner of the Grey 9-3 at the top of the page in johno's photo's that you were referring too! What NCP car park was that then by the way?
On a more personal note, it was my car that won Best 9-3 at the SOC Nationals this year! proud moment indeed!

:)

Well done.

I still don't know which other cars won as I'd high-tailed it home by then. I'm assuming the blue 5 door won the 900 class despite Craig's best efforts?

3 chances, it was a very close call and it came down to the judges decision, but I just scraped by winning the 99T award
And yes the blue 900 did win.

Didn't take one pic all day, sorry.

The 99T result was a nail-biter for everyone - would the black one over by the fence win or would the black one over by the fence win?

The 99T looked amazing as usual. 8)

Welcome to UKSaabs T9 man & well done on the award, the look on your face when your reg number was read out was priceless matey (it got mine & er indoors vote).
Stunning looking car, just about the best wheels available too. :envy:
I rather liked the bonnet vents, very nice little touch.
Was yours the one that had a bad tune so a certain pro tuner took over & made it right?
I did hear some something along those lines but not sure if it was your car that was being talked about or not.
