apparently these new coatings alter the paint on the scratch edge and pull the original paint into the scratch and the epoxy or whatever in the pen adds to the bulk so you get a colour match - the science seems fine.

Just bought one off that redsave.com gadget site. I'll give it a try, mine's full of scratches.
Some crackers on there! That 'anti nap alarm' would be a good idea for my long night shifts....you just run the risk of leak your pants when it goes off at 4:30 am

[img]The ingenious Anti Nap Alarm reduces the possibility of falling asleep on the job.

When Sexy Bobby falls asleep, his tadger tends to tilt downward. This movement will automatically activate the alarm.

•Safer humping at night
•Ideal for long sessions, studying for exams, staying awake at work and more...
•Batteries included[/img]

Err, back on OP's topic

I've bought one of the cheaper ones, but I wonder how well it will work in practice, the video showed a bonnet being scratched, and the gizmo repairing it, immediately.

However, on Mrs Baxlin's Clio, the scratches have been there some time - mostly handbag/shopping bag scrapes and the like, but the car is regularly polished. So there's polish in the scratches.

I suppose I should give it a chance, and at least clay and wash the area of the scratch first.

Wonder how it is on stone chips..........................

Malcolm

dont think it would work on stone chips. It relies on flowing the exisiting paint into the scratch.

i wont to try the drchip or chip dr stuff where they match your paint colour- you touch it in then use a special resin polish to fill to the edge and provide a flat finish - my bonnet looks okay but on closer inspection- i reckon the previous owner must have been a road surface surveyor and followed the stone chip lorry day and night!
